In a major anti-corruption operation, Assam Vigilance and Anti-Corruption officials have reportedly recovered ₹1.18 crore in cash, fixed deposits worth around ₹80 lakh, and multiple land-related documents during raids linked to ACS officer Lachit Kumar Das in Guwahati.

According to investigators, the Additional Director of Land Records was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a ₹45,000 bribe related to a land sale permission case. The vigilance trap operation was launched after allegations that a much larger amount had been demanded.

Subsequent searches uncovered huge cash reserves, fixed deposit certificates, bank records, insurance documents, and property-related papers. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the alleged disproportionate assets and possible corruption network.
